Syngonium Little Star (Angustatum) – A Rare, Star-Shaped Syngonium

Syngonium Little Star, also known as Syngonium Angustatum, is a rare and highly unique Syngonium variety known for its deeply lobed, star-like leaves. This fast-growing plant is ideal for climbing or trailing, making it a great choice for moss poles, trellises, or hanging baskets.

A Star-Like Foliage Marvel

  • Displays thin, elongated, deeply lobed leaves, resembling a star shape as it matures.
  • Its vining nature makes it a fantastic climber with support, but it can also be left to trail.
  • A rare Syngonium variety that stands out in any collection.

Caring for Syngonium Little Star

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates medium-light conditions.
  • Watering: Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry before watering again.
  • Humidity: Benefits from higher humidity—use a humidifier or mist occasionally.
  • Soil: A well-draining mix with added perlite and peat ensures healthy roots.
  • Fertilization: A balanced liquid fertilizer once a month promotes lush growth.

Aerial Roots and Climbing Behavior

  • Produces strong aerial roots, allowing it to cling to supports for vertical growth.
  • When provided with a moss pole, leaves become larger and more defined.
  • If grown in a hanging basket, the vines will cascade, creating a waterfall effect.

Potential Growth Issues and Fixes

  • Leaf curling: A sign of low humidity or underwatering—increase misting or move to a more humid space.
  • Slow growth: Could be caused by insufficient light—relocate to a brighter area.
  • Pests (mealybugs, spider mites): Wipe leaves regularly and apply neem oil if needed.

With its star-like leaves, climbing potential, and rare status, Syngonium Little Star is a must-have for collectors who love unique foliage plants.

"Little Stars"

This Syngonium made it safely to the US with almost no yellowing or damage. It came with decent roots and only took a few days of rehab care before I was able to pot it up. Such a cute little thing too!
