Shipping policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

Okanoka ships live tropical plants internationally from Indonesia. Because live-plant shipments may require export documentation, phytosanitary inspection, customs clearance, and destination-specific import procedures, delivery works differently from ordinary parcel shipping.

Please review this policy before ordering.

Processing Time Before Shipping

International orders require preparation before dispatch. This may include plant preparation, export documentation, government inspection, phytosanitary processing, and packing.

Please allow approximately up to 14 business days for export processing before dispatch.

Processing may occasionally take longer because of government schedules, public holidays, destination-country requirements, plant readiness, or other regulatory circumstances.

Processing time is separate from transit time.

For a detailed explanation of the process, please see How International Plant Shipping Works.

Direct International Shipping

For orders shipped directly from Indonesia to the recipient, international transit is typically approximately 3–10 days after dispatch.

Some destinations or shipments requiring additional customs or agricultural inspection may take 15 days or longer.

Transit times are estimates only and are not guaranteed delivery dates.

USA Group Shipping

Okanoka offers scheduled Group Shipping to the United States.

Multiple customer orders travel together from Indonesia and are routed through the required U.S. inspection or clearance process. After clearance, individual orders are separated and forwarded to customers using a domestic carrier such as UPS or USPS.

As a general guide, please allow approximately 10-16 days from the international departure date to final delivery.

Some shipments may arrive sooner, while U.S. agricultural inspection, customs, forwarding schedules, weather, holidays, or domestic-carrier delays may extend delivery.

The scheduled USA Group Shipping date refers to the date the international consolidated shipment leaves Indonesia. It is not necessarily the date your individual domestic tracking number begins moving.

For more information, please see Shipping Plants to the USA from Indonesia.

Canada Group Shipping

Okanoka also offers scheduled Group Shipping to Canada.

Multiple customer orders travel together from Indonesia to our Canadian consolidation partner. After the consolidated shipment arrives and completes the necessary clearance process, the individual customer orders are separated and prepared for domestic delivery.

Our Canadian consolidation partner then creates the domestic shipping label and tracking number and forwards each package using Purolator, UPS, or another appropriate domestic carrier.

Based on our recent shipping records, the consolidated shipment typically reaches our Canadian consolidation partner approximately 4–5 days after leaving Indonesia.

From the day the Canada Group Shipping shipment leaves Indonesia, most customer orders are delivered in approximately 5–8 days total.

This means the 5–8 day estimate is the total estimated journey from Indonesia to the customer, not an additional 5–8 days after the shipment reaches Canada.

Some customers may receive their plants shortly after the consolidated shipment reaches Canada, depending on their location and domestic carrier service.

These are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery times. Customs clearance, weather, holidays, destination within Canada, or domestic-carrier delays may extend delivery.

The scheduled Canada Group Shipping date refers to the date the consolidated shipment leaves Indonesia.

Your individual Purolator, UPS, or other domestic tracking number is normally created after the consolidated shipment arrives in Canada and your order is prepared for forwarding.

For current information, please see Canada Group Shipping.

How Plants Are Packed

International plant orders are generally shipped bare-root, with sphagnum moss around the roots as appropriate for the plant and shipment.

Plants are prepared and packed for international transportation while taking into account applicable export requirements and the needs of living plants during transit.

Tracking

Tracking information will be provided when available.

Direct international orders normally use an international tracking number.

Group Shipping may involve more than one tracking stage. The consolidated international shipment travels first, followed by domestic forwarding after the necessary inspection, clearance, or consolidation process.

For USA and Canada Group Shipping, domestic tracking numbers are created by our consolidation partners after the consolidated shipment arrives and individual orders are prepared for forwarding.

Please monitor your tracking information once it becomes available and contact us if you notice an unusual tracking issue.

Export Documents

Depending on the destination and shipping method, Okanoka may prepare or provide documents such as:

  • Phytosanitary Certificate.
  • Commercial Invoice.
  • Applicable declarations.
  • International shipping documentation.

If the destination requires a buyer-provided import permit, permit label, or other import document, the customer must provide it before shipment processing is completed.

Import Requirements

Plant-import regulations vary by country and may change.

Unless Okanoka specifically states that an import service is included, the customer is responsible for confirming that the ordered plants may legally be imported into the destination country and for obtaining any buyer-side import permits or authorizations required.

Okanoka is responsible for the Indonesian export documentation and procedures that we specifically agree to prepare.

A Phytosanitary Certificate confirms that the shipment has undergone the applicable plant-health export procedure in Indonesia. It does not guarantee admission by the destination country's authorities.

Final import decisions are made by the destination country's customs, agricultural, plant-health, or other government authorities.

Customs, Duties and Other Charges

Depending on the destination country, international shipments may be subject to additional charges, such as:

  • Import taxes or duties.
  • Customs or inspection fees.
  • Brokerage fees.
  • Storage charges.
  • Other government or third-party charges.

Not every country or shipment will incur these charges. When applicable, charges imposed by the destination country's authorities, customs, carrier, or other third parties are normally the customer's responsibility unless they are specifically included in the selected Okanoka shipping service.

USA & Canada Group Shipping

For USA and Canada Group Shipping, the standard import, customs clearance, inspection, and brokerage charges associated with the consolidated shipment are handled by our consolidation partners and are included in the Group Shipping service.

Customers will therefore not be separately charged for these standard import-related fees.

Any shipping charges or domestic delivery fees that apply under the specific USA or Canada Group Shipping program will be clearly stated before ordering.

Delays and Government Inspection

International plant shipments may be subject to customs, agricultural inspection, Plant Inspection Stations, or other government clearance.

These procedures are outside Okanoka's direct control and may extend delivery time.

Carrier delays, severe weather, public holidays, forwarding schedules, and local delivery conditions may also affect the estimated arrival date.

Okanoka will provide reasonable assistance when a shipment experiences an unusual tracking, customs, inspection, or delivery issue, but estimated transit times are not guaranteed.

Customer Responsibilities

Please provide complete and accurate:

  • Recipient name.
  • Delivery address.
  • Telephone number.
  • Email address.
  • Required import permit or import information, when applicable.

Customers should also monitor their shipment and respond promptly if a carrier, customs authority, or government agency requests information necessary to complete delivery.

Problems caused by missing or incorrect buyer-provided information, permits, or documents may affect eligibility for refund or replacement.

Receiving Your Plants

Please receive and open your shipment promptly after delivery.

Avoid leaving live plants outside for extended periods, especially during extreme heat, freezing temperatures, or direct sunlight.

International transportation may cause temporary plant stress such as yellowing, drooping, leaf loss, or minor cosmetic damage without making the plant non-viable.

For arrival and acclimation guidance, please read After Your Plants Arrive.

For Dead on Arrival claims, evidence requirements, cancellations, refunds, and replacements, please see our Refund, Cancellation & Claim Policy.
