How Shipping Works

From Indonesia to Your Door

Ordering live tropical plants internationally can sound complicated, but Okanoka handles the export preparation from Indonesia for you. We prepare your plants, coordinate plant quarantine inspection and phytosanitary documentation, pack them for international transit, and arrange shipment to your destination.

Import requirements vary by country. Depending on your destination and shipping option, you may need an import permit, additional documents, or to pay local customs duties or taxes.

How Your Plants Travel

1. Place Your Order

Choose your plants on Okanoka.com and complete your order. Once your order is placed, we begin preparing it for export. Please make sure your name, shipping address, phone number, email address, and any required import information are correct before shipment.

2. Export Preparation

Your plants are checked and prepared for international shipping. We clean the plants, review their condition, and prepare the documents required for export from Indonesia.

3. Plant Quarantine Inspection

Plants are inspected by Indonesian Plant Quarantine before export. After the required inspection is completed, the phytosanitary documentation is issued for the shipment.

4. Bare-Root Packing

Plants are shipped without soil. Roots are carefully prepared and wrapped with sphagnum moss, then each plant is secured for international transit.

5. International Shipping

Once your shipment is ready, we arrange international delivery using the shipping method available for your destination. For regular international orders, shipment is generally handled by DHL Express. Tracking information is provided after dispatch.

6. Import & Customs Clearance

When the shipment reaches the destination country, it may go through plant inspection, customs clearance, or other import procedures. Requirements and processing times vary by country.

7. Delivery to Your Address

After the required import and customs process is completed, the shipment continues to the delivery address provided with your order.

Phytosanitary Certificate

International plant shipments commonly require a Phytosanitary Certificate. This document is issued after the plants are inspected by Indonesian Plant Quarantine and confirms that the shipment has undergone the required plant health inspection before export.

Okanoka coordinates the required export and phytosanitary documentation for eligible international plant shipments.

How We Pack Your Plants

Our plants are prepared specifically for international transportation. Plants are shipped bare-root in sphagnum moss, not in their original growing medium. Each plant is secured individually before being arranged inside the shipping box.

The goal is to protect the roots, foliage, and growing points while keeping the shipment suitable for international plant inspection. Packing may also be adjusted according to destination, season, and expected transit conditions.

Regular International Shipping

Okanoka ships live plants internationally from Indonesia. For regular international orders, the buyer is responsible for understanding and providing any import requirements required by the destination country.

Depending on your country, you may be required to provide an import permit, import authorization, prepaid domestic shipping label, or other documentation. Customs duties, import taxes, inspection charges, or other destination-country fees may also apply.

If you are unsure about the requirements for your country, please contact us before ordering.

USA Group Shipping

Customers in the United States can also choose our USA Group Shipping service. Multiple customer orders are consolidated into one international shipment and the import process is coordinated as part of the service.

With this option, customers do not need to provide their own import permit. After the shipment completes the required import process in the United States, orders are forwarded domestically to each customer’s address.

Group Shipping is available only during scheduled shipping cycles and is subject to the current Group Shipping terms and pricing.

Canada Group Shipping

Customers in Canada can also use our Canada Group Shipping service. Orders are consolidated in Indonesia, shipped together to Canada, processed through the required import procedure, and then forwarded domestically to each customer.

This option is designed to simplify the import process for customers who prefer not to arrange an individual international plant shipment. Group Shipping is available only during scheduled shipping cycles and is subject to the current Group Shipping terms and pricing.

How Long Does Shipping Take?

Live plant orders require preparation before dispatch. Export documentation and preparation typically take 1–14 business days, depending on the order and required documents.

Transit time varies according to destination, courier service, customs processing, plant inspection, weather, holidays, and other circumstances outside our control.

Before Your Shipment

Please make sure the following information is complete and correct before shipment:

  • Full recipient name
  • Complete shipping address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Any import permit or other required import documents for regular shipping

Incorrect or incomplete information can delay customs clearance or delivery.

After Your Plants Arrive

International shipping can temporarily stress live plants. Open your package promptly after delivery, carefully remove the packing materials, and inspect your plants.

Some yellowing, leaf damage, or general travel stress can occur during international transit and does not necessarily mean the plant is Dead on Arrival (DOA).

If your order arrives with an issue, please review our Refund Policy for claim eligibility and instructions.
