Philodendron Anderson – A Rare and Elegant Climbing Philodendron
Philodendron Anderson is a rare and highly desirable Philodendron hybrid, loved for its elongated, deep green foliage and smooth, glossy texture. As a fast-growing climber, this variety is perfect for those looking to add a sophisticated, vertical element to their indoor jungle.
A Refined Climber with Glossy Green Foliage
- Features long, lance-shaped leaves with a rich green hue, making it a sleek and modern addition to any space.
- The leaf texture is smooth and glossy, giving it a polished and refined appearance.
- A vigorous grower, capable of reaching impressive heights with proper support.
How to Care for Philodendron Anderson
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light, though it tolerates medium-light conditions.
- Watering: Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy—allow the top 1-2 inches to dry between waterings.
- Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity (above 60%)—misting helps maintain vibrant growth.
- Soil: Requires a chunky, well-draining mix with orchid bark and perlite.
- Fertilization: Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks for lush growth.
Aerial Roots and Climbing Potential
- Develops strong aerial roots, allowing it to attach to moss poles or trellises.
- Encouraging climbing enhances leaf size and promotes faster growth.
- If left untrained, it can develop a more sprawling, bushy shape.
Common Problems and Solutions
- Leaf curling: Indicates low humidity or underwatering—increase misting and check soil moisture.
- Yellowing leaves: Often caused by overwatering—adjust watering routine and improve drainage.
- Slow growth: Due to low light or nutrient deficiency—move to a brighter spot and fertilize regularly.
With its sleek, deep green foliage, climbing habit, and adaptable nature, Philodendron Anderson is an excellent choice for plant collectors seeking a sophisticated and easy-care Philodendron.

I run a small US-based nursery out of my home, and have ordered nearly 200 plants from Noka in the past six months. Her prices are super competitive, they take about a month to come in (the bulk of that is to get the import certificate, it's usually just a few days in the mail). Communication is great, and mostly the plants are as well. Sometimes they come in looking a little beat up, and have had a very small number not make it, but overall they are healthy, well-rooted specimens packaged with care. Love dealing with her.
The red anderson I received is sizable with healthy roots. Variegation is not quite as good as the ones used in the photos but this is a hard plant to find at a reasonable price and I am super happy with it.
